Their similar yet distinct design styles complement one another perfectly and their passion for the art of design shows itself boldly through GatherHouse Design Co. When approaching a home design project, Alycia and Danae know their job is about more than just adorning its insides; the goal is to evoke a feeling in the space that tells the story of the people who live there.
Alycia, who lives in Los Angeles, is the founder and design principal of GatherHouse Design Co. She holds a Master’s in Journalism from Northwestern University and had a former career as a major market news anchor and reporter before following her love of storytelling and visual mediums into the creative world of interior design. Alycia is passionate about aesthetics that are reflective, creative, and functional. Her interior design partner, Danae, has been designing and building homes for fifteen years. Her love and talent for taking a house and turning it into a home is an inspiration to all who know her. Danae has also combined her love for design with her love for missions and donated hundreds of hours to communities in need in Ethiopia, Colombia, and Haiti.
Alycia and Danae love when a project calls for a creative use of space. Whether the client wants to solely trust this team's instincts on design or be involved in the creative process, Alycia and Danae cherish creating beautiful surroundings for the people they come to know through the design process. “Interior design is about telling the story of a home and who resides within its walls,” Alycia shared with us. “Design, to us, is taking those intangibles that make each family or home unique and putting them into aesthetic physical form. The art of interior design is not just about the things in a home, it’s about creating a feeling…and this is something we are passionate about.” Through their joint passion, this duo has brought to fruition many a stunning design for their clients, and they don’t see themselves stopping any time soon.
