The story behind The Veekar Collective is a unique and exciting one. Carlos Gutierrez founded his company with the goal of connecting interior designers with the best in high-end luxury brands. His collective promotes the finest unique and contemporary designs handmade by masters in their craft. As brand ambassador, Carlos is extremely selective in the curation of the companies he works with; they must be of the highest quality to catch his attention and bring them in front of his network of clients that compose the best of the architecture and design industry.
Carlos got his start in corporate banking, utilizing his bachelor’s degree from Herbert H. Lehman College in Economics with a specialization in Business Management. After a few years in his position, he found himself professionally unfulfilled: “I realized I needed to follow my true passion which was working in art and design.” He enrolled in Parsons, got a fast-track degree, and soon after attained his first Design Assistant position at Alan Tanksley, Inc. and later with Charles Pengelly, another independent and talented interior designer. After several years immersed in interior design, Carlos felt his passion pulling him toward luxury furniture sales. “I started my furniture sales career after Dennis Miller recruited me. I worked for Dennis for 5 years before moving on to work for other showrooms at various levels from sales to district manager.” Carlos soon realized he needed to start his own venture business or leave the industry altogether, and so he was blessed with Veekar.
The Veekar Collective was founded in 2015 with support from industry friends and colleagues. Carlos connects designers and brands all across the United States, with a special focus in New York City, via individual presentation introductions. To this day, his original goal stands firm: “I launched this amazing group to offer the design community a collective of very special furniture brands in a personal way. My design philosophy is very simple: surround yourself with that which pleases the senses. I surround myself with beautiful design and exceptional people, and my hope is that my audience agrees,”and they do! The Veekar Collective has become a truly valuable player in the interior design industry, and one whose custom touch brings fun, flavor, and much needed beautiful designs to the best in the architecture and design landscape.
