Peggy Scinta had always possessed a talent for the craft of interior design, but her career path had landed her in the midst of corporate America working as a Human Resource Executive. While successful in that field, Peggy decided to leave her job and pursue her creative passion, taking courses from Sheffield School of Design in New York to fine-tune her innate design skills. Peggy ran a sole proprietorship design company in New York for about two years before deciding to make a great leap in her new career: She packed up, moved to Las Vegas, and founded her own high-end design firm named P. Scinta Designs.
Now seventeen years later, Peggy and her team have served hundreds of clients from local executives, medical professionals, entrepreneurs, and new Las Vegas residents with full-service luxury design. Her most requested styles are transitional and new traditional—a blend of contemporary with a nod to traditional. An excellent sample of P. Scinta Design’s work is this jaw-dropping Nevada home for a young couple and their three children.
The well-traveled husband frequently flew to London, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi, and wanted their home to represent both his British roots and reflect his many experiences of staying in boutique hotels. The wife possessed an appreciation for color and bold styles, and was interested to see Peggy present some colorful, chic design strategies. These aspirations allowed Peggy an exciting playground in which to create. The home’s foyer became a grand entrance set off by a baby grand piano beside the curved staircase. Peggy, a lover of unusual lighting, selected lights by Moooi to make a big statement. By painting the ceiling black, Peggy and her team created the perfect backdrop against which to install three Raimond LED pendants. When lit at night, the pendants resembled three stars glowing in the night sky.
The clients also owned an extensive record album collection which they wanted prominently displayed. Peggy and her team framed each record in matching white frames and installed them along the staircase, creating one massive art statement. The end result was colorful and unique, and both the clients and Peggy loved it! Venturing further into the home, the dining room and living room were set up in adjoining rooms. As a finishing detail, the dining room’s chandelier was custom color matched to the living room’s sofa, finalizing the cohesive feel of the gorgeous space.
When asked what goal Peggy tries to achieve for her P. Scinta Design clients, she answered, “We really pay attention to what our clients are telling us during our preliminary interviews. We want our design strategies to be represented with today's aesthetics but have enough traditional elements to withstand the test of time. In the end, we want them to be very happy with the outcome, and we want to be equally happy and proud of our work.” In this Las Vegas home, P. Scinta designs certainly went above and beyond achieving this goal.
