Leonora Mahle had a vision to create a residential interior design firm with a strong attention to detail, a collaborative creative process, and exceptional service. Her interior design talent and extensive knowledge of construction, business, and client management, made possible the establishment of Mahle Design in 2020. This full-service design studio predominately serves Los Angeles, CA, with modern and transitional design styles. In Leonora’s words: “I strive to create interiors that have an open and airy feel, no matter the style, with a focus on quality materials and good craftsmanship.”
Leonora’s designs possess a natural sense of modernism and a value for the indoor-outdoor lifestyle. These qualities are drawn from her childhood in Brazil which Leonora holds close for inspiration. Whatever kind of space a client brings her—whether a Park Avenue pied-à-terre or a family home in a suburb of Los Angeles—Mahle Design consistently creates interiors with a high-end sense of refinement.
Before relocating to California, Leonora worked in New York where a young, industrious couple with two boys required a home renovation. For ten years they’d lived in the same apartment with no style updates and felt it was finally time to renovate. They both desired a more grown-up, transitional look for the space, an aesthetic which Leonora is known to execute with perfection.
Mahle Design recruited Mullins Interiors as the general contractor for the project, and then set out to curate the perfect luxury materials and lighting for the couple’s new space. Cabinetry for the kitchen and bedroom were procured from Woodmax Inc. The staircase was lit with a chandelier by Gallotti&Radice and decorated with a gorgeous wallcovering panel by Philip Jeffries. Over the dining table, a Welles Glass chandelier by Gabriel Scott was hung. When the clients viewed the finished work by Mahle Design they instantly fell in love with the light, sophisticated aesthetic of their renewed space.
