How To Get A Great Interior Design Website With Limited Photography

One of the most common questions we get from interior designers is how to get a beautiful website when you have limited photography. There are a few ways to do this.

Our goal is always to create a website you will want to share with clients, referrals, friends, family and your professional network. Your website can be one of the best tools to gain more referrals.

Use stock photography and swap out photos later

There are a lot of free and low-cost stock photos that you can use to get a good-looking website up and running in preparation for when you receive your first batch of professional photography.

Here is an example we did for an interior designer in Houston, Texas: www.interiorsbyoscar.com

Use just 4-5 photos from a project you photographed, selecting only the best

The iPhone 11 and newer versions all have amazing cameras with which you can take good photographs. This is a great first step. As long as you get lots of light in the room, remove any miscellaneous objects like cords, and shoot nice straight angles into the center of the room, you can easily collect great photos for your website.

This is what we did for Erica Holmes Interiors of New York and all we needed was just a few great photos to get a beautiful look: www.ericaholmesinteriors.com

Mix lots of project photos together to get a full look

If you have done a lot of projects but feel like only a few represent your portfolio, you can mix several of them together on a single project gallery to still give your website a full look.

This is what we did for Gara + Co of Connecticut: www.garacompany.com

Start by getting 1 project professionally photographed

Even just one professionally photographed project can give your website a beautiful look. You can use the photos of the kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, dining and living areas of the home on every main page of your website.

Adding beautiful photos to each page gives your website a full and complete look, and it can be done with as few as 5 photos.
