Elizabeth Mercer has been surrounded by numerous artistic influences her entire life. At the young age of twelve, she was chosen to perform a violin solo with the New Orleans Symphony Orchestra, and as a senior she was accepted into the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts high school where she studied visual arts. Her talents steadily grew, and Elizabeth continued her studies by attending the Rhode Island School of Design. Graduating with honors, Elizabeth Mercer had secured herself a promising future in the field of design.
Presently, Elizabeth is busy running her own full-service interior design firm, mercer INTERIOR. For sixteen years, mercer INTERIOR’s clean but eclectic look has been attracting clients from New York City and the tri-state area. The basis of their success is adhering to the desires of their clients: “By carefully listening to our clients,” Elizabeth explained to us, “we realize a vision and work from concept to completion developing solutions that are truly inspired.” The results of this focus can be seen in this beautiful renovated living area and dining room.
“The client was having their first child but wanted a warm and sophisticated space that was child friendly,” Elizabeth told us. “We chose resilient materials in luxurious colors and textures to achieve this goal.” The green sofa in a heavy velvet texture is an eye-catching piece, bringing sumptuous charm while still remaining family friendly. The clients loved this emerald addition as well as the wall color which they were initially a bit nervous about, but which Elizabeth and her team executed perfectly.
Each element of this space is worthy of attention, but one that especially stands out is the ethereal wallpaper used to tie the entry hall to the living and dining rooms. The print is like a painting, and provides a soft, artistic touch to make the space feel truly unique. This design by mercer INTERIOR is nothing less than fabulous!
